Hello,
I was so happy to hear about your mailing list! My husband and I just returned
from Cairo, Alexander Co., IL, where I was able to get a copy of the marriage
certificate for my grandmother's parents, Harlow Skiel Knowlton and Mary Jane
Monroe in 1874. It is so exciting to find more and more information!
I was referred to Stocking's Knowltons in "England and America". Can you tell me where to find a copy, and if it is possible to order it online? I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
My Grandmother's brother, George Irwin Knowlton, was married to Eva May Thompson. However, he was married to another woman also, and I do not know her name at this time.

I wasn't looking for them, but I found some Knowltons in Minnesota. If anybody is interested, I copied 2 biographical sketches of Elliot Answorth Knowlton, a merchant and banker who was born in 1844 in Wardsboro, Windham Co., VT to William Knowlton and Electa Plimpton or Ramsdell (depending on which biographical sketch the info is from). Elliot Knowlton lived in Rochester, MN. Contact me directly if interested.

Subject: Advocate Nova Scotia
The Nova Scotia Branch of the Knowlton family is mostly from Advocate, Advocate Harbor N.S. The cemetery is filled with Knowlton grave markers. I will be spending a few days there in July and if anyone has anything that they would like to look for I will try my best to help out.
Regards,

John:
For what it is worth; starting with Daniel Knowlton b. 1688 as the point of
reference, I find the following in Stocking: Knowltons of England and America;
plus the Errata. I have yet to check any of the VR sources.
As always, anything in Stocking must be viewed with suspicion. The Errata, while
an improvement, is not a perfected source. It should be treated with informed
skepticism and used as a guideline.
In the Errata:
Daniel b 1655 is stated with some emphasis, to be "not identified". He
is rejected as a candidate to be Daniel Knowlton (S 17); the son of John
Knowlton (S 5).
Daniel b 1688 is shown as Daniel Knowlton (S 67). He is shown as marrying an
unknown woman. No date given. Bourguilla Lamb is rejected, by name, as this
woman.
Daniel b 1717 is shown as Daniel Knowlton (S 181) and son to the previous. He is
shown as having married Abigail Almy.
Elias Knowlton (S 398) b 1744, is shown as marrying Elizabeth Jennings and as
the father of:
Daniel Knowlton (S 914) b 1780; who married Lucinda (not Linda) Blake of Holden
in 1803.
This turns out to be a prolific line indeed, and I have not come close to running down all of the many relatives and immediate collateral descendents. Daniel & Abigail had eight children and a vast number of grandchildren. Elias & Elizabeth are credited with a full fourteen of these, although in the event it turns out that about six of them were grandchildren inadvertently mixed in. Not hard to understand that. However, a quick check seems to agree with your tree so far.
I am sending you separately an attachment file; ie. a more detailed
desendency narrative covering these people. It is separate simply because I
understand our mailing list not to handle attachements well. I will be glad to
foward the attachment to anyone who might want it.
Hope this is helpful.

Subject: Pamela Knowlton married to Samuel Haight
Date: Sun, 20 Jun 1999 19:23:12 -0400
Hello,
I noticed in the genealogy pages for Robert Knowlton, Westchester Co., NY, the
above referenced, Pamela Knowlton who married Samuel Haight. My maiden name is
Haight, and my great great grandfather is from NY.
My great grandfather, Francis Marian Haight, had a son, Samuel T. Haight. I wonder if he was named for and uncle, possibly Samuel Haight from NY.
Any information on the Haights would be appreciated. My grandmother was Alwilda Cornelia Knowlton. She married William Benton Haight, brother to Samuel Tilden Haight.
I will look forward to hearing if anyone has any information.

Subject: Webster Knowlton
Hi, Everyone: Yes, I have been "out in the garden" for months. It got warm early and is staying cool all through June [a miracle], so I am still out there although we have eaten the corn already--what a varmint didn't get--and the lettuce is going bitter and the eggplant is only setting. … OK, I know you don't read these for Georgia weather reports.
Today I read in the May/June GENEALOGICAL HELPER the following:
"Sister Carol looking for Webster Knowlton, last known address Utica, NY.
Pat Smith, 18 Newman St., Gloversville, NY 12078."
That's the whole thing. Hey, Bill "Bluegrass" Knowlton, is this a cousin of yours in Utica? I have already checked white pages for the USA and don't find Webster. Can anyone help?

Hello fellow Knowltons,
My grandmother was Alwilda Cornelia Knowlton, daughter of Harlow Skiel Knowlton and Mary Jane Monroe. I am searching for information on my grandmother's siblings' descendants.
Please let me know if this reaches anyone! I have not been successful in sending email on the list. My messages get returned!
