17. Robert Knowlton, b. 7 SEP 1693, Hamlet, Ipswich,
Essex Co., MA.
Robert moved to Sutton, MA, and later to Ashford, CT, in 1725. He owned
a large farm, and was also engaged in the making of salt. He served as
a representative in the Colonial Assembly of Connecticut from 1739-1755.

26. Daniel Knowlton, b. 1726, Ashford, CT, d. 1791.
Daniel fought under Colonel Joseph Scott at the seige of Louisbourg, NS,
in 1745. In 1759, he applied, with others, for a land grant in NS, and was
given about 26,000 acres at the head of Cobequid Basin, where they
organized the Township of Onslow.
Their share of these lands were later disposed of by Daniel and his wife Mary
In 1783, Daniel received 2,000 acres in Cumberland Co., NS, (later known
as Halfway River).
